2016: The Year in (Code) Review
Uneventful is not a word that comes to mind when looking back on 2016. The Cubs won the World Series. Augmented Reality hit the mainstream with Pokémon Go. Scientists observed gravity waves for the first time. Tesla officially unleashed self-driving cars on the world. The list goes on and on…
And here at Hyperwallet, we spent 2016 with the pedal to the metal, working with an almost singular focus: to put you in the driver seat. This year was for you – the developer.
From Private Beta to Public Portal
At the start of this year, our global payout APIs were available for our customers in private beta. And then, in March at FinDEVr New York, our very own Bill Crowley and Blair Olynyk unveiled our to the public.
Built from the ground up with React.js, the Sandbox launched with numerous features designed to make your job as a developer much easier. Once registered, devs have access to a number of tools, including their own private development sandbox, full API logs, and robust platform documentation.
To help you get started, the Sandbox boasts a step-by-step tutorial that describes the process of creating accounts for your workforce, registering bank accounts on their behalf, and sending them payments.A quick look back at what's been happening in the dev department at Hyperwallet Click To Tweet
Payout Portal ++
Since its public release, the Sandbox has seen a number of major updates.
Originally focused on just one of our payout models, you can now use your Sandbox account to integrate against the Payout Solution that best fits the needs of your business. Today, you can use our APIs to pay your workforce through prepaid cards, local direct deposit, wire transfers, and paper checks.
Or, if an API integration isn’t quite right for your business, we’ve also added a complete set of documentation for our alternative integration method, what we call OneBatch. You can use OneBatch to register, update, and pay your workforce through one batch file, uploaded directly from your back office to ours.
Open Source? Of Course
A developer community isn’t complete until it also provides folks with the tools necessary to get started immediately. With this in mind, we’ve released three open source SDKs on GitHub – Java, Node.js, and PHP – which you can use to start integrating our REST APIs into your application right now. We’ll be releasing a Python SDK very soon, as well as ones for iOS and Android in 2017.
A Sneak Peek at Our Payout Platform Plans for 2017
Without a doubt, 2016 has been a busy year for us at Hyperwallet, but this is only the beginning.
We’ve been hard at work on a new Webhooks framework which will launch in January. Through a simple UI, you can enable real-time notifications for your application, providing end-to-end insight into payment delivery and full visibility into your workforce’s payout experience. Stay tuned for a webinar on this topic, during which we’ll show you how to embed our webhooks directly into a real application.
Ready for 2017?
Don’t idle your engines – sign up for your own Sandbox account today. Within the Sandbox, you have immediate access to every aspect of our global payout platform. After building the payout solution that fits your business, you can take your integration live through a single click of our (new!) ‘Go Live’ link.
We look forward to seeing you in 2017!
